TIRRC Votes Endorses State Rep. Aftyn Behn in Federal House Race for Congressional District 7 


NASHVILLE, TN —TIRRC Votes, the political arm of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), announced today its endorsement of State Representative Aftyn Behn in the special election for Tennessee's 7th Congressional District.

"No matter what we look like or where we are from, we all deserve the freedom to be safe and make a good life for ourselves and our families. It's clear the country is moving in the wrong direction and we need strong leadership in Washington from a representative that shares these values," said Lisa Sherman Luna, Executive Director of TIRRC Votes.

TIRRC VOTES is endorsing Rep. Behn based on her proven track record of supporting immigrant and refugee communities and her dedication to policies that strengthen working families across Tennessee by lowering costs, expanding healthcare access, and ensuring our freedom to not just get by, but get ahead.

Throughout her time in the legislature and now in her Congressional Race, Rep. Behn has also championed policies that directly benefit working immigrant families including:

  • Fighting Food Insecurity: Advocating to ensure all children have access to nutritious meals

  • Infrastructure Investment: Prioritizing critical road repairs and infrastructure improvements that support economic growth

  • Healthcare Affordability: Working to lower healthcare costs for all Tennesseans, making quality care accessible to every family
